Gutenberg Place

Situated on the beautiful Sophienstraße, Gutenbergplatz is home to numerous shops and restaurants. Karlsruhe’s oldest and most beautiful weekly market takes place there three times a week. The square invites you to drink coffee and linger.

In summer, Gutenbergplatz literally becomes a large ‘beer garden’ for the local restaurants, cafés and pubs and offers a ‘piece of holiday’ with its Mediterranean atmosphere amidst old town houses and large trees.

The Carpe Diem (café & bar), the Papa Corleone – Pastamanufaktur restaurant (Italian), the Café Juli, the Osteria Carré (Italian) and the Gasthaus Gutenberg (German & international) can all be found here. For wine connoisseurs, the specialist wine shop ‘Weinlade’ offers a wide selection.
