Kaltenbronn upland bog
One of the Black Forest’s largest upland bogs is covering the ‘Kaltenbronn’ high plateau. This unique and untouched landscape with its raised bogs and forest wetlands provides a habitat for only the hardiest species. Yet, despite a lack of variety, the area’s flora and fauna is exceptional. This, as well as the good network of paths and wooden walkways through the ‘Hohloh’ and ‘Wildsee’ raised bogs, make Kaltenbronn one of the most popular destinations in the region.
In addition, the ‘Hohlohturm’ tower offers visitors breath-taking views into the ‘Murgtal’ valley below and across the peaks of the Black Forest. On a clear day, you can even get a glimpse at the French Vosges Mountains! And when the snow falls, Kaltenbronn is transformed into a lively winter sports area with both long-distance and circular routes for cross-country skiers as well as two ski lifts for downhill enthusiasts.
