PAMINA Rhine river park
The ‘PAMINA Rheinpark’ is neither simply a nature reserve nor a typical open-air museum. The most distinct feature of this area, stretching from Karlsruhe to the southern end of the rural district of Rastatt, is the unique river wetlands. The PAMINA Rhine river park is one part of the wider Franco-German PAMINA region, covering approximately 500,000 hectares.
The PAMINA Rhine river park itself covers an area of over 96,000 hectares in total and is made up of uniquely natural and cultural landscapes. Thousands of visitors come to the park every year to cycle along the Franco-German ‘PAMINA Rheinauen’ cycle route, to explore one of two conservation centres, to visit one of the 10 museums with their interconnected exhibitions on both sides of the Rhine river, or to take a stroll, getting to know more about the area through to the many information signs along the various paths and trails.
