When hedonistically orientated people in our part of the world long for relaxation, they think of ‘wellness’. Preferably very exotic ones: lomi lomi, hot stone, Ayurveda, hammam, Japanese, Hawaiian, Arabic, Chinese, whatever.

Wellness is everywhere. Even in the Black Forest. In the 11,100 square kilometre holiday region in south-west Germany, there is the ‘Wellness Stars’ seal of approval and the region-specific ‘Black Forest Balance’ label. It stands for alkaline-emphasised nutrition with regional products, for essences made from local spruce needles and elderflowers.
