Berlin is back! Flight provider VINI and FKB are developing a new route to the capital

Travel

Berlin is back at FKB! Thanks to an innovative flight concept, flights from Baden to the capital will resume from October 2026.

The soft launch will take place in October and November 2026, with flights from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport to Schönhagen/Trebbin Airport, south of Berlin. From there, a private shuttle – included in the ticket price – will take passengers directly to the centre of the capital. The service is set to be gradually expanded from 2027 onwards.

The first flights from October 2026 are already available to book. Schönhagen is particularly attractive for destinations in the south of Berlin and in Potsdam.

Seven years without a connection to the capital

There has been no direct flight link to the capital region since October 2019, when the last route to Berlin was discontinued.

The reason was not a lack of demand, but the structure of the service: an aircraft with over 100 seats could not be operated profitably on this route. This is precisely where VINI comes in with a new model, tailor-made for regional airports such as FKB. Instead of large aircraft and a rigid timetable, VINI is starting with appropriately sized aircraft and developing the service in line with demand.

Soft launch in October and November

A flight timetable is already available for the route to Schönhagen/Trebbin, offering both day trips and stays of several days: departing at 7.30 am from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden to the capital region (flight time approx. 1.5 hours) and continuing by private shuttle bus directly to Berlin-Mitte. The return flight is scheduled for late afternoon at 5.30 pm from Schönhagen/Trebbin.

Fleet tailored to demand

Aircraft will be deployed to match actual demand. The plan is to operate a Dornier 228 (19 seats) and a Dornier 328 (up to 32 seats). The flights from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden are not a first attempt for VINI, but rather the next step in a growing European network. VINI is already operating successful routes in Germany and Switzerland, for example from Bern to Munich or from Friedrichshafen to Hamburg.

Easy to book – directly, at a travel agency or via well-known booking portals

Flights with VINI can be booked directly via the VINI website www.flyvini.com, at travel agencies or via well-known booking portals such as Opodo or Skyscanner (airline code Q4).
