Services at the airport Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden
Short distances, a terminal at ground level with an arrival and departure area, affordable parking and a versatile range of gastronomic treats, including an outdoor terrace with children’s playground in the departure area, ensure that your holiday begins in the most relaxed manner.
Web check-in, quick check-in or mobile check-in are also a matter of course here at the Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) and prevent long waiting times, especially for business travellers. Furthermore, the FKB is wheelchair-accessible in accordance with the guidelines of the Association of Handicapped Persons and there is, of course, also a free wheelchair service.
The B&B Hotel Baden-Airpark is situated in front of the passenger terminal. It is equipped with 85 comfortable rooms (air conditioning, phone and TV with SKY programmes). WIFI is available in the reception area and in all rooms free of charge.
First of all, please inquire directly with the airline whether it permits the transport of animals. The airline Ryanair principally does not convey animals. In addition, the respective entry regulations of the destination are of particular importance.
Dogs and cats weighing up to five kilograms and / or, depending upon regulations of the airline, sometimes even up to six kilograms, may only be taken on board as hand luggage in a special travel bag. Heavier animals must be transported in a special transport box located inside the airplane freight section. This transport box can be bought in different sizes at the airport or pet shop.
An animal transport costs approx. 20 to 40 euros per flight, depending on the size / weight and the airline. Some airlines also charge per kg.
Before the flight, you should take your animal to the veterinary surgeon. The animal’s passport and a chip with all relevant data is obligatory for flights out of Germany.
Dogs, cats and ferrets moved for non-commercial purposes into a Member State from a territory or a third country other than Andorra, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Greenland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and Vatican City State shall only enter Baden-Württemberg via Stuttgart airport.
Baby-changing facilities are situated in the public zone of the arrival area and next to the departure gates in the security area.
Baggage trolleys are at your disposal free of charge for a 1 euro deposit. You will find the baggage trolleys at the car parks (no baggage trolleys on the car parks P 3 and P 4), in front of the passenger terminal and inside the passenger terminal.
The boarding kennels (Victoria Boulevard, building B 124) in the direct proximity of the passenger terminal offer seven heated rooms suitable for dogs as well as over 600 square metres of open space. The animals are professionally taken care of round-the-clock.
A cash machine dispensing local currency (euros) is located in the northern terminal area. A second cash machine dispensing local currency (euros) is located in the southern terminal area (opposite to the arrival area). A moneychanger is situated in front of the Check-in area at the middle main entrance of the terminal building. This moneychanger changes 5 euros, 10 euros and 20 euros bank notes to 1 euro and 2 euro coins.
There is no foreign currency exchange facility. Please click on www.umrechner-euro.de to receive up-to-date information about the rate of exchange.
Please check with your airline, from which age onwards and up to which age children travelling alone are accepted for the UM service (UM is the abbreviation for “Unaccompanied Minor”).
The UM service should be requested with the airline in advance and be paid for at the time of booking, (depending on the conditions of carriage). Some airlines offer a UM service payment at the airport.
Please be advised, that children travelling alone should arrive at the check-in counter no later than 2 hours prior to departure.
The children have to be accompanied to the airport by an adult and picked up by an adult upon arrival. The name, the address and the mobile phone number of the respective persons are recorded prior to departure. The accompanying adults have to present their ID cards.
All relevant documents, e. g. assistance advice and UM bags, will be supplied during the check-in procedure. You will only be requested to produce a booking confirmation, your valid ID card and – if applicable – a payment receipt for the UM service. Some airlines offer the option for passengers to fill in the assistance information directly on the website. In this case, you are required to bring five copies of the assistance information to the check-in.
Shortly before boarding commences, the boarding agent will take the children through the security checkpoint and accompany them to the aircraft. The children are then handed over to the crew. The person accompanying the children to the airport should remain at the airport for at least 15 minutes after the effective flight departure time.
Upon arrival, the children are picked up by the ground staff and handed over to the adult responsible for pick-up.
